Trap/Neuter/Release for New Orleans

Sponsor a Feral CAT!

Please help me and others I'm working with get as many feral cats here in New Orleans spayed and neutered as possible.

How does Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) work? We humanely trap the cats and transport them to the vet for surgery. The Vet performs the surgery and while still anesthetized clips the very tip of the cat's left ear off for easy identification as to whether the cat has already been spayed or neutered. Once awake and healthy the cat is re-released into the same neighborhood it came from (the exact spot where it was trapped actually) and members of the neighborhood who have pledged to care and watch over the cats continue to feed them and alert us of how the cats are doing and let us know if a cat is injured or ill so we can re-trap for treatment.

We ask a $30.00 donation to sponsor a cat. For that $30 you will be paying to get that cat spayed/neutered. You can also pick a name for the cat and we will give the cat that name when it's taken to the vet for the official records. You can also specify male or female but it's easiest if you simply pick a unisex name or give us both a male and female name to choose from. Write your choice of names in the comments section of the order form.

If you want we will send you a picture (like the one above) of the cat you sponsored along with a thank you card from WAIF. If you want, donations can be made in someone else's name and the card/picture will be sent to the person you choose (this makes a great gift). You can even write a personal note we will add to the card in the gift message section of the order form. Please choose the "I just want to help. No thank-you necessary" donation or "Please send me a picture of the cat I helped" from the choices below.

Quotes:

"Louis Maistros has written a lyrical, complex, and brave novel that takes enormous risks and pulls them all off. He is a writer to watch and keep reading, a writer to cherish."
Peter Straub

"The Society of North American Magic Realists welcomes its newest, most dazzling member, Louis Maistros. His debut novel is a thing of wonder, unlike anything in our literature. It startles. It stuns. It stupefies. No novel since CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES has done such justice to New Orleans. If Franz Kafka had been able to write like Peter Straub, this might have been the result."
Donald Harington,
Winner of the Robert Penn Warren Award and the Oxford-American Lifetime Achievement Award.

“The Sound of Building Coffins is easily one of the finest and truest pieces of New Orleans fiction I've ever read.”
- Poppy Z. Brite

“One has to write with considerable authenticity to pull off a story steeped in magic and swamp water that examines race and class, death and rebirth, Haitian voodoo, and the beginnings of jazz in 1891 New Orleans...The plot is complex and magical, grounded in the history of the city, without being overly sentimental. There is a comfort with death as a part of life in this work that reveals deep feeling for the city and its past....Highly recommended for all fiction collections, especially where there is an interest in jazz."
