 | Little Queenie Surrender to the funk, baby. Resistance is futile. Queenie is the genuine article -- New Orleans funk and soul to the core, she is a true Crescent City gem. Go discover here now, and tell her Louie sent you.

| | | All Music Guide This is the database that I use in the store to look up hard to find, obscure and out of print titles for my customers. It's amazingly complete with bios and photos on many of the entrys - and the cross referencing capabilities will make sure you get way more info than you were originally seeking. Music info junkies beware: this page is highly addictive. AND REMEMBER: If you locate that hard to find CD listed in the All Music databse, just click back to Louie's and email us for the lowest possible price quote!

| | | Louisisana Music Online This is a great non-commercial, non-tourist source of information and links relating to New Orleans and Louisiana including links to radio stations, instrument stores, local bands, record labels and more. Lots of great informational pages and photos too.

| | | Superfly Productions If your planning a trip to the Big Easy but don't want to end up on some damn steamship or worse, consult the Superfly website FIRST. Superfly promotes some of the slamminest knockout funk reviews in the business - some of the lineups they come up with seem straight out of a dream. Here's an example from last year's schedule: John Mooney, Henry Butler, George Porter Jr & Stanton Moore playing TOGETHER.. I can't even imagine.

| | | Master Digital One of the finest mastering outfits in the country with a specialty in roots music. Most of the fine recordings we sell at Louie's (including many of the recordings from the GHB Foundation) were mastered by the fine folks at MD, led by guru Parker Dinkins. If you're serious about your music project, talk to the folks at Master Digital before making any rash decisions.

| | | Alligator Records Some of the best modern blues in print, Alligator recently added the entire Blacktop Records catalog to its treasure trove.

| | | Blind Pig Records Blind Pig is truly a label with a soul, producing many fine blues projects from the unknown to the legendary.

| | | Fat Possum Records Fat Possum is one of the few blues labels with its own distinctive sound. The blues doesn't get any rougher or realer. You can buy their excellent sampler from their site for only $5! Highly recommended.

| | | WWOZ OZ is possibly the finest roots radio broadcast in the country. Naturally, any station with such good taste is supported by private funds, so pop by their website and buy a groovy T-shirt!

| | | Jeremy Lyons and the Deltabilly Boys Jeremy and the boys are personal favorites of mine.

Quotes:
"Louis Maistros has written a lyrical, complex, and brave novel that takes enormous risks and pulls them all off. He is a writer to watch and keep reading, a writer to cherish." – Peter Straub
"The Society of North American Magic Realists welcomes its newest, most dazzling member, Louis Maistros. His debut novel is a thing of wonder, unlike anything in our literature. It startles. It stuns. It stupefies. No novel since CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES has done such justice to New Orleans. If Franz Kafka had been able to write like Peter Straub, this might have been the result." – Donald Harington, Winner of the Robert Penn Warren Award and the Oxford-American Lifetime Achievement Award.
“The Sound of Building Coffins is easily one of the finest and truest pieces of New Orleans fiction I've ever read.” - Poppy Z. Brite
“One has to write with considerable authenticity to pull off a story steeped in magic and swamp water that examines race and class, death and rebirth, Haitian voodoo, and the beginnings of jazz in 1891 New Orleans...The plot is complex and magical, grounded in the history of the city, without being overly sentimental. There is a comfort with death as a part of life in this work that reveals deep feeling for the city and its past....Highly recommended for all fiction collections, especially where there is an interest in jazz." - Library Journal
